Individual Therapy

I practice psychotherapy integratively, meaning more than one theory informs my view of how people develop and heal. After hearing more about what brings you to therapy, I will tailor your treatment to the goals you identify.

  • I particularly enjoy working with clients who are curious about their experience and are looking to process difficult experiences and/or relationships.

This sort of work involves getting to know yourself, and incorporates aspects of your experience that may be outside of your awareness. We’ll explore experiences from early on in your life and connect them to what’s happening now. In the process, you’ll grow insight into your own inner life and patterns.

  • Whether the trauma you’ve experienced is recent, further in the past, or you’re not even sure you’d call it ‘trauma,’ working through difficult experiences in the context of a supportive therapeutic relationship is worthwhile. I am trained in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on making space for the harder parts of life while moving toward what is meaningful to you. This combination creates more flexibility in the face of hard experiences.

  • I enjoy working with athletes at all levels and all stages of their career. Performance as an athlete is so closely intertwined with identity, and I work with my clients to understand the nuances of this overlap. Your moods, motivation level, emotions, and performance all can shift over time, and it can be helpful to examine underlying thought patterns as they relate to yourself and your sport.

I also work with athletes who are transitioning out of their sport due to injury or planned retirement and would like some help processing this shift. I have extended my clinical work in this area to my research, and have authored journal articles and presentations on the utility of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) for athletes.

  • Living with OCD can feel suffocating and isolating, and though it can seem permanent, it does not have to be. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is considered the gold-standard treatment for OCD.

  • I specialize in working with members of the US military and first responders. Current or previous employment as military, police, fire, and/or EMT can bring particular challenges that tend to take a toll on relationships and overall psychological health. I utilize Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you identify your values (your “why”), develop a mindfulness practice to be present and open, and help you move forward toward what is meaningful to you. Many first responders enjoy this type of therapy, as it involves concrete tools and skills to help navigate distress.

Payment & Insurance

If my services aren’t covered by your insurance policy, then I am considered an “out of network provider.” In this case, you are eligible to apply for reimbursement from your insurance company. I am happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork (i.e., a “superbill”) to do this.

Insurance gets confusing quickly. Please don’t hesitate to ask me questions about this.

You can also check your potential reimbursement rate here.
