If you or your child have been struggling with attention, focus, emotion regulation, social communication, sensory sensitivities, or chronic feelings of “something being different,” a comprehensive psychological evaluation is worth considering. These evaluations provide diagnostic clarity and individualized recommendations for next steps.

I offer private pay evaluations for ADHD, autism, and related concerns in children, adolescents, and adults. These assessments are designed not simply to assign a diagnosis, but to help you better understand how you or your child think, learn, relate to others, and function in daily life.

Many people seek an evaluation because they or their children have experienced:

  • uncertainty about whether symptoms reflect ADHD, autism, anxiety, trauma, or something else

  • longstanding difficulties with attention or organization

  • chronic procrastination or overwhelm

  • performance concerns at school or at work

  • feeling “burnt out” despite high achievement

  • social exhaustion or “masking”

  • anxiety that affects attention, planning, or completing tasks

  • a desire for accommodations or treatment recommendations

  • frustration with brief or impersonal evaluations elsewhere

Comprehensive ADHD & Autism Evaluations for Children and Adults

What Exactly Is a Comprehensive Assessment?

Online screenings, social media posts, and/or brief appointments with providers can be helpful starting points for answering questions about what you’re experiencing, but they don’t provide a full, clinical understanding.

A comprehensive psychological evaluation looks at the bigger picture. Rather than focusing on a single symptom or diagnosis, an evaluation includes many components that are designed to better understand how a person thinks, learns, focuses, manages emotions, relates to others, and functions in daily life. These components are then integrated into a final, clarifying picture that answers the questions you have.

The evaluation process typically includes:

  1. Initial consultation and intake with Dr. Andersen

  2. Completion of rating scales and background forms

  3. Testing session(s) at Dr. Andersen’s office

  4. Review and interpretation of findings

  5. Comprehensive written report (yours to keep)

  6. Feedback session with diagnostic impressions and recommendations

Recommendations may include:

  • Certain types of psychotherapy

  • School or workplace accommodations

  • Strategies for supporting executive functioning

  • Behavioral strategies

  • Referrals for medication consultation if appropriate

  • Sensory or social support strategies

Why Private Pay?

Private pay evaluations allow for a more thorough, individualized process than is typically allowed within insurance systems. Insurance companies may allow us to answer one question, but often won’t cover the cost for additional, equally important questions. When this happens, we miss important data that are essential for understanding the whole picture. This results in only a partial explanation of what you or your child may be experiencing.

The private pay route ensures you will get what you’re looking for: clarity, individualized attention, a collaborative and thoughtful process, shorter wait times, and detailed recommendations.
