Yes, Dr. Andersen is in network with most Aetna plans.
If you don’t have Aetna insurance, Dr. Andersen can provide you with the necessary paperwork, called a superbill, to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
-
A superbill is an itemized receipt provided by Dr. Andersen that documents services rendered, diagnoses, and associated billing codes. Many of her patients use superbills to submit claims to their health insurance carriers for possible reimbursement.
How reimbursement works:
Dr. Andersen provides you with a superbill each month.
You submit the superbill to your insurance company (in most cases this can be done online).
Your insurer reviews the claim, applies your benefits (deductible, co-insurance, allowable amounts), and issues reimbursement according to the plan’s out-of-network benefits or out-of-network reimbursement policies. You can find out your reimbursement rate by contacting your insurance company.
-
In a private pay model, sessions and documentation aren’t submitted to insurance, which reduces the amount of personal health information shared outside the therapeutic relationship. Private pay also allows for services that insurance may not cover (e.g., longer sessions, longer-term therapy, combined assessment + therapy).
In many cases, submitting a superbill to your insurance company allows you to be reimbursed for sessions without them dictating or knowing the frequency, length, or details of treatment.
